I just updated to Cura 4.2 on windows 10 home 64-bit (build 17134.885). I dont even get the splash screen, just a flicker of something on the task bar, 5 seconds of hourglass and then nothing. I initially got this with 3.6, 4.0 and 4.1, but they worked after I switched them to wind. Cura is slicing software for 3D printers, it takes a model and slices it into layers to create a file known as G-Code, this is the code that the a 3D printer understands. Before we look at Cura there's a little bit more to the whole print process when it comes to the 3D files and how they're prepared.
● Install the Cura software
Click Cura .exe file, pop-up installation window, continue to click next step to complete the installation.
● Machine settings
For offline printing, do not need to connect to computer, easy to operate with SD card. After install Cura software,Select 'print all the once' from the 'Tools'.
Object operation

The name of 'filename. gcode' file must be in English or number, do not name it into Chinese characters or others. Save the file to the SD card, then insert it into the card slot and turn on the power. Select 'print from SD' in the main menu from LCD Control Screen, then select the 'filename. gcode' file you just saved and confirm it and begin to print.
Open Cura software,you can modify all of the printing parameters on the display screen.
Select 'Switch to full settings'.
Layer height: 0.1 - 0.4mm available. 0.1mm high precision, but long printing time, 0.4mm low precision, but printing time is too short, in general select 0.2mm.
Shell thickness: 0.4mm is very thin, in general select 1.2mm, that will increase the printing time.

Bottom / Top thickness: In order to make the top layer print more perfect and flat bottom layer.
Fill density: If the intensity is not high, select 20%. If the intensity is high, increase it and the printing time also will increase.
Print speed: Generally set 30-100, he print speed is higher and the precision is lower.
Printing temperature: Depends on the filament, generally select 190 - 210 degrees.
Support type: Include a half-support and full support. In general the model with suspended structure needs to set support, but a surface will be rough after removing support.
Platform adhesion type: 'None' means do not set any support, 'Brim' increases the bottom area. 'Raft' base makes the model more adherent. To make the model better adhere to the base, add a base or edge. But best to increase a base and an edge relative to the small bottom area.
Diameter: 1.75mm
Flow: 100%
Nozzle size: 0.4mm.

Retraction Speed: The speed of retraction when printing.
Retraction distance: The length of material retraction, generally select 4.5 - 8mm.
Initial layer thickness: The first layer thickness of printing. Select default option.
Initial layer line width: 100% will be thicker and denser, Select default option.
Cut off object bottom: The length of cutting off the bottom of model.
Dual extrusion overlap: 0.15mm. Select default option.
Travel speed: The moving speed when nozzle does not extrude filament.

Minimal layer time: Select default option.
Enable cooling fan: To cool the temperature of nozzle.

Firstly, you should know that in order to print a 3D model as a single object, the mesh must be completely manifold or 'watertight'.
A 'watertight' object means that if you fill the object with water, it will have no leaks. Non-watertight or non-manifold mesh occurs when the dots or edges have not been connected to create a solid object. Or, suppose you have a model with elements that overlap one another. This technique confuses the slicing program that generates the G-code and the model gets printed with errors.
Creating a watertight or manifold model is not simple. It is even more difficult to try to repair a non-manifold object than building it from scratch.
Overlapping geometry is your worst nightmare. If you're not attentive and careful when modeling, it can ruin all your work and you will be forced to waste a lot of time correcting or you might see yourself in the position to start over.
The non-manifold problem occurs most frequently in 3D models with complex geometry. Like the one in the picture below.
This is a complex 3D model of Fallout 4 Power Armor, consisting of thousands of polygons. The entire model (figurine plus support)has been modeled using primitive elements. For an object to be watertight, there should be no spaces or gaps between its intersecting or overlapping inner and outer faces.

After you've checked and repaired the errors in your STL files, it is time to proceed with the printing.
For an STL file to be printable, it must be uploaded in a slicing program that generates the G-code for the printer to be able to read the correct geometry of the object. Take the repaired file and upload it into the slicing program you use.
We use CURA 15.06 slicer for Ultimaker. Therefore, we will illustrate how this process works with this particular program.
2. Drag the repaired STL file in the program's window.
When we import the file in CURA 15.06, it looks as follows:
CURA chops the object in thousands of layers, enabling you to see every single layer the object consists of. To be able to see the layer pattern of the model, rip cut the object. When we do so with our 3D object, we see that the object is seen as being built from several separate parts.
See how you can distinguish every element of the object. They divide the object in several elements, with no joining points among them, which will print separately and fall apart, if the problem is not fixed.
This issue can be avoided if correct settings for CURA 15.06 software are provided.
The feature that you need to enter a correct value for is Horizontal expansion. For a watertight model, the value must be 0.04mm. However, avoid entering a bigger value as it results in a thicker layer, which is not recommended.
After having entered the 0.04mm value for Horizontal expansion feature, the object is seen in CURA 15.06 program as watertight and manifold, which is the result we are looking for. Maxi grip scope rail removal bsa supersport.
Different software has this feature called differently. It can also be set by default. If the feature is not set by default, take several minutes to set up the software correctly. Don't let the printing of your 3D model fail, without taking actions first.
